For Dad

So my Dad keeps asking for pictures and I've been quite the slacker... sorry Dad! This past month has been pretty crazy. We had our house painted in the middle of June. It looks so much better now! I want to get going on the rest of the house, but I need to be patient!

I still am going to relandscape the front and build a bench, but I'm going to wait till it gets cooler!

Ethan is a growing machine! At his 4 month check up he weighed 18.6 lbs, 26 3/4 inches long and his head was 17 inches! He's in teh 95% for his height and weight and the 75% for his head! He is such a happy baby which I am so grateful for! He LOVES holding onto his elephant whenever we go out! It keeps him pretty entertained in the car.

His new jumperoo! At first he wasn't so sure what to think of this since his feet dont touch the floor, but not he has the hang of it! He loves sitting in there and playing with all the fun toys!

Keeping Papa's chair warm for him until he gets back!
Eating his rice cereal. He likes it a lot more now! I can't shove it in his mouth fast enough!
I love to stand! That is my favorite thing to do right now!

I promise to do a better job updating! I know I keep saying that, but Ethan isn't afraid of the camera anymore so hopefully we can continue to get some good pictures! Until next time....

Updates

Hello everyone! I know I said I was going to write in the blog on a more consistent basis, but at least I'm responding in less than a year! Our little boy has kept me quite busy! I guess I shouldn't say little, I weighed him yesterday and he is 14 pounds 8 ounces. He's not even 3 months yet and he has doubled his birth weight! He is an eating machine and I am grateful that we decided to go for the bottle feeding. He's doing really good for tummy time and he's holding his head up pretty good! He's smiling a lot more now and he always sticks out his tongue whenever he smiles! Unfortunately our little stinker wont hold the smile so we can take a picture (sorry Dad!), but hopefully we'll be able to get one soon!
Coming home from the hospital

Ethan at 2 1/2 months
We just had a visit from my friend from college Andrea and her little girl Maci. We had so much fun, but unfortunately most of the time that they were here we had thunderstorms most of the time. Andrea helped me get a lot of projects that I've been meaning to get done namely finishing Ethan's room. I'll post pictures tomorrow. It turned out so cute! Maci loved holding Ethan, but wasn't so sure when her mom held Ethan. It was great to see the two of them though and can't wait for them to come back!

There's not a whole lot of other exciting news from us. We planted our garden tonight so hopefully in a couple more weeks we'll have some vegetables! We did the traditional Lyons salsa garden this year and also did some cantaloupe, pumpkin, squash, & green beans. I'm hoping the last 4 will help us when it comes time for Ethan to start eating real food. I'm going to try out making his baby food, but we'll see how long that lasts! We're also waiting for Brett's test results to come in July. He feels pretty good about the test, but he doesn't fully relax until he has the results in hand!

Big Changes!

So I know I haven't posted in a LONG time much to some peoples dismay. I just didn't think anyone would find our life particularly interesting since it was just Brett & I. This year though has brought big changes to our little family.
Brett took another one of his actuarial tests and passed so he only has 3 more to go till he's a Fellow. We are crossing our fingers that he will pass the next ones so we'll be done! I am almost done with my degree. I have 13 credit hours left that I'll be finishing this summer and I look forward to being done! Brett & I both have been busy with our callings at church. Brett's in the Elders Quorum presidency and I'm the laurel advisor in our ward so we stay pretty busy doing that! The biggest news though was we welcomed Ethan Robert Lyons to our family on March 4, 2010 at 2:06 am. He weighed 6 lbs 13 ounces and was 20 3/4 inches long. He has a VERY healthy appetite and is already growing like a weed! He is such a joy to our lives already and I can't wait to see how he fits in with our family! When I finally get this whole blog thing figured out I will post pictures.
I promise to do a better job about blogging so keep checking back for more updates to our little family!

Buy Ford, NOT Dodge

So this week has been very interesting... I got the title in the mail to my 02 Dodge Stratus on Monday which I was very excited about! I was so happy that we'd be able to save the money that we've been paying for my car loan each month, but unfortunately it didn't last long. On Wednesday my car started making some noises which we took it into our mechanic. He said that it was going to cost about$6k to get fixed due to problems with the engine. I guess this has been a known problem that Dodge has known about, but never did a recall. My car was only worth about $2500 so that led Brett & I to go car shopping.
I really do like shopping, but for clothes. I dont like having to go haggle with dealers to get the price down on a car that's reasonable. Thankfully we had a good friend that works for Ford. He got us the employee pricing & I got a discount for being a college senior on a 2009 Ford Escape. I am in love with this car! It's so cute & fun to drive! Granted I dont think Brett thinks it's a cute car, but it is!!! I love being able to drive around & not have to worry about breaking down or my engine just cutting out on me!
I guess maybe instead of saying how much I hate Dodge I really should be thanking them. If they hadn't made such crappy cars I wouldn't be having so much fun driving around my new one.

My First Entry!

Hello everyone! I had originally started this blog as a school project, but I've decided to keep it up so my friends/family can keep up with things. This is also a way for me to be better at keeping a Journal.. my last entry in my Journal was when I got engaged almost 3 years ago... So hopefully this blog will make me be better! To update everyone with where we're at, Brett just passed his 5th actuarial exam!!! Only 4 more to go till he's done. He's working full time as an Actuary in Overland Park and loves his job. I am working full time and going to school full time to finish up my Bachelors Degree. If all goes well I will be done the last week in July and will be so glad that it is over! I'm finishing my degree in business and work full time for an insurance company as well. We just bought our first house in May (our first anniversary present) and are enjoying having the place to ourselves. We are primary teachers at church and are loving our class. We got to move up with them this year and are having fun watching them grow and learn the gospel!

I guess that's us in a nutshell, but I promise it wont be too long before I post again!
